February Book Group

The Social Justice Committee at DCC invites you to join us in February for a book study on Sundays after church (five sessions, Feb. 5 – March 5) on Austin Channing Brown’s 2018 memoir, I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness.

A leading voice on racial justice, Channing Brown’s book is an eye-opening account of growing up Black, Christian, and female, exposing how white America’s love affair with “diversity” so often falls short of its ideals.

She writes in detail about her journey to self-worth and the pitfalls that kill our attempts at racial justice, in stories that bear witness to the complexity of America’s social fabric. She invites the reader to confront apathy, and to recognize God’s ongoing work in the world.
